Coming from Southern California, one of the biggest disappointments I've endured up here in the Northwest is the lack of serious (and I mean authentic, serious... serious) Mexican food here in Seattle. Even places like El Gordo, Cactus, Jalisco's, just don't really compare to even some of the dive joints down in SoCal. Ilaria, my longtime friend from California came up for a visit this week while she attends a conference in Seattle. As a surprise, she airlifted a stash of Cucas Bean and Cheese burritos from LA to Seattle just for the House. Talk about some serious grub.... Bean burritos for about a buck a piece, creamy refried beans, velvety cheese in a hand rolled tortilla... Each one the size of about a soda can, (and weighs about the same) yum! I'm sure partially it's the nostalgic value of these wonderful creations since they were a diet staple of most of my college years, but to everyone that I've shared them with, they swear up and down that this IS one of the best B/C burritos they've had hands down. Needless to say, they were all consumed within minutes of arrival.
